Commentary on Daniel
Prophecy, stories and political intrigue fill Daniel’s book. His book is extremely relevant for today as it not only provides inspiration on Godly living, but provides prophecy relevant for today. Many phrases still in our speech today come from Daniel.

Daniel was taken to Babylon under Nebuchadnezzar in early teen years and lived most of his life in Babylon. He writes his book during captivity between 605BC and 537BC. Critics attempting to “late-date” the book by someone other than Daniel (in 165 BC) miss several important points which sink their theory:

- Alexander visited Jerusalem in 332 BC and was shown a copy of Daniel's book.
- The book of Daniel was in the Septuagint (Greek translation of the Hebrew Old Testament) translated between 300 and 200 BC.
- Jesus in Matthew 24:5 tells you Daniel wrote this book, and called Daniel a prophet.
Daniel, even though in captivity, maintained his devotion to God and continued to follow Jewish Law. His book provides us with many life lessons, as well as knowledge of future events.
