Connecting the News Dots

| Comments

On occasion different news stores appear unrelated, but turn out connected. Let’s connect the dots and see what turns out. The first story comes from Florida Democrat Alan Grayson (who’s 15 minutes appears to be about up) on his latest media-grabbing statement — only this time, (almost) everyone agrees his ship isn’t firmly tied to the pier.

Proof for God's Existence

You have no evidence for an afterlife, So by logic means there is no afterlife.

Statements along these lines frequently appear. But they’re wrong logically, and quite simple to show the logical error of. Until the 1900’s we had no evidence for quantum mechanics or photons — does that mean they didn’t exist until 1900?

The search for the evolutionary missing link continues. It’s funny how those “missing link” proclamations receive big attention, but what happens they’re found out to be false? Have you heard archaeopteryx and Ida aren’t what they were originally claimed to be? Probably not.

Another Troubled Church

| Comments

Paul wrote the troubled church at Corinth on a wide range of issues including divisions, marriage and divorce, social occasions and more, but sadly in the last 2,000 years the church refuses to learn the lessons. Exhibit “A” in the we-never-learn category:

In a previous article on the problem of evil we discussed the hubris of the person attempting to attribute to themselves all knowledge — as if they don’t understand why God acts the way He does, it doesn’t make any sense at all. Naturally, the only way that logic works is if the person possesses all knowledge themselves — making themselves into a sort of Deity. And the last thing the atheist wants to do is acknowledge the existence of God.
